So last night on of my coworker said he noticed the jlikeart sign on my car. "Do you sell insurance?", he asked. "No," I replied,"I'm an artist. I sell paintings."

My belief is that my artwork promotes what I call the Three C's: Connection, Compassion and Compultion. When you look at my art, you make an attempt to connect with either the artist(me) or what the piece says to the viewer(you). That synergy leads to an emotional response--compassion. Lastly, if the first two C's are truly strong and genuine, then the compultion to purchase becomes immediate. And that's what I do everyday and with everything I design. Wouldn't you agree? I have a hopefully simple question for my fans: Should I start selling my art on EBay or stay with Weebly until they create a bidding widget? I have paintings online, on walls and in homes. If you, your friends or your feeds encounter my art, please show it to the world. Snap it, Share it and Expose it! Be part of something amazing!!! The first(of hopefully many) art show of the year for Bellvue Group at the historic Farmer House in Bloomington, IN tonight. All together we had three artists displaying their works in the galleria: Karen Holtsclaw, Lan and myself. I was impressed with the turnout tonight--we had at least 15 visitors from 5 to 9pm. This was amazing considering we didn't only promoted it on Facebook and in the Events calendar through the Herald-Times Newspaper. The artworks will remain here for two months, so there are so many opportunities to visit Farmer House and take part in these inspirational creations. Another thing that I truly enjoyed at this casual event was artists talking art. Since I started my painted path, I have longed for honest conversation about ours art and how others view it. When I've shown my works at other galleries, I usually get a non-comment(where they look at it for three seconds and silently move along) or a few words of praise. But I really need more than that. I need to know WHY you like it or WHAT does it make you think of. Tonight we delved deeper into our works and discovered the stories behind their titles. It was invigorating and I hope to have more in the near future I just got the latest issue of Art in America today. It's the 2012 Guide for Museums, Galleries and Artists. I like to flip through the pages, look at ads and listings and imagine myself as a featured artist. I realize that it is a tremendous long shot to ever see my works in AiA, but if you're gonna dream--go big.
is over and done. I stopped in earlier this week and took everything down. It's amazing how a solo show can take weeks to plan and hours to hang, but can be dismantled in a matter of minutes. I almost felt like we were doing an art heist in broad daylight. Anyway, all the remaining paintings are safely back home and filling practically every room of the house. So if you're familiar with where I live, you can schedule an appointment and make a purchase right off wall. Otherwise, you can still buy on line and I can ship it to you ASAIC.
These are some early sketches for paintings I'd like to work on this Summer. The first two were the result of my visit to Miller-Showers Park last week. The third one is a further study of linear forms and rational abstraction. Please feel free to comment on these and share your own ideas. If you'd to commission a painting from me based on these designs or any others on this site, please contact me.
